What YOU Need To Know About A Boudoir Photoshoot
Q. I don’t like my photo being taken at the best of times! How could I consider taking my clothes off for photos?
A. I completely understand this! But there are SO many reasons why a boudoir photography experience can actually help you feel more body-confident and relaxed in front of the camera. There will be just 3 of us there - including you - and we’re all women. We know how to help you feel your best and show you how to pose and even what to wear. I promise that you’ll find it fun and that it will boost your confidence and discover self love. You can find more reasons here in our blog about how a boudoir shoot can help your self confidence.
Q. What is your style? I don’t want anything seedy and I want something different from all the shots where the women are lying on their tummy.
A. My style is definitely not seedy. I pride myself on taking photos that are stylish and sensual. I try to offer something bespoke to every woman that I photograph - I don’t have a set portfolio of poses, light or images. I assess the light, your shape and your boudoir outfits to make sure that you look your best in your photographs and so that you feel beautiful.
Q. How do I prepare for my boudoir photoshoot?
A. Once we’ve had our zoom call and you know what you’re bringing to wear, I’ll send you an email with directions.
Wash your hair the night before and avoid any product. On the day itself, just moisturise as normal but don’t wear makeup. Don’t wear socks or tight fitting clothes if possible to avoid pressure lines on your skin. And that’s it!
Q. Which areas do you cover
A. People come from all over the country to work with me and to experience self love that they have never felt before, but principally from areas such as Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth, West Dorset, Exeter and Plymouth.
Q. How naked do I have to be?
A. Interesting question. I have to say that most women grow in confidence so much by the end of their photoshoot that they don’t too have much inhibition left. But it’s completely up to you - if you want nude photography or lingerie, bras and knickers or just covered up showing a bit of leg or cleavage - let’s create your dream images. Let’s create the body image that you really want.
Q. What days do you work?
A. We’ll usually shoot Monday to Friday starting in the morning. Weekends are more difficult because the makeup artist gets booked up for weddings. We usually start at 10 or 11am to make the most of the natural light although there is more flexibility in the summer months.
Q. What should I bring to wear?
A. A couple of weeks before the photoshoot we’ll have a zoom call where I explain how to prepare and what to bring with you. First of all, bring a robe and slippers. The room is toasty warm but wearing something comfortable whilst you’re having your hair and makeup done can help you relax. As for outfits for the shoot - anything which makes you feel good - matching lingerie, negligees and cover ups, your partner’s white shirt, a special scarf, sexy shoes and for a bridal boudoir photoshoot, how about your veil and your bridal lingerie? On the rail I have some gorgeous accessories, a lacey robe and 1950’s sheer gown. The sky is the limit. Let’s get creative.
Q. Will my images be used by you for marketing and shown on your website?
A. Only with your permission. The privacy and comfort of my clients is of the utmost importance to me. If I’d like to display your photos, then I’ll ask your permission. You are very welcome to say no. My word is my bond.
Q. Do you airbrush the photographs? I want to look like me.
A. It’s really important that you don’t think that you look like someone else in the photos. You should look like you on a great day (or night). I do edit the photographs but like my makeup artist I have a light touch. If you have an obvious feature and you have strong feelings about it - either negative positive - let’s talk about that! We want to help you discover self love - just as you are!
Q. Can I let you have my boudoir photoshoot ideas?
A. I’d be really happy to work with you on creating the images that you dream of. You could create a Pinterest board and invite me to collaborate or simply send me some boudoir photos that you’ve seen that you like or links to them
