What To Bring To Wear To A Boudoir Photoshoot: A Complete Guide
JUN 18
Boudoir photography is a beautiful and empowering experience that celebrates your unique beauty and confidence.
If you like the idea of a boudoir photoshoot but worry that you don’t have any gorgeous lingerie to wear, let me show you how all women can do this for themselves so that they can look at their photos and think: WOW! Look at me!
I’ve photographed hundreds of women over 20 years, focusing on beauty and boudoir for 11 years and I’ve got a great eye for what looks good on every body type.
We’ll have a chat on Zoom a couple of weeks before the shoot to help you decide but in the meantime, let’s have a look at your options. But don’t worry if you have none of these - it doesn’t mean that you have to have a nude photoshoot. We just get creative.
So let’s do this…
Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you pack the perfect outfits and accessories. And if you don’t have these items, I offer you some alternatives or how I can help with my vintage rail.
1. Lingerie Sets
Classic and Elegant: Think black lace, silky satin, or soft, sheer fabrics.
Colors and Patterns: Choose colours that flatter your skin tone and that reflect the tone of the images that you want to create - black for sultry and sexy, white for bridal boudoir, or virginal and pure. Bold reds, delicate pastels, or even fun patterns can add a unique touch to your photos.
Alternatives: A well-fitting bra and knickers in matching colours. Or just knickers with a lacy or sequined jacket from my rail.
2. Bodysuits and Teddies
Flattering Fit: Bodysuits and teddies can be incredibly flattering, accentuating your curves and offering a bit more coverage if you prefer.
Styles to Consider: Look for styles with interesting details like lace, or a plunging neckline to add visual interest.
Alternatives: One of my little lacy or sequined jackets, or a well positioned swathe of satin or silk fabric.
3. Robes and Kimonos
Sheer or Silk: A sheer or silk robe can add a layer of elegance and can be used as a prop during the shoot.
Color Coordination: Choose a robe that complements your lingerie sets for a cohesive look.
Alternatives: A gorgeous blush negligee, a black, sheer cover-up or a very sexy black lace robe all from my rail.
4. Stockings and Garters
Classic Hosiery: Stockings and garter belts are classic boudoir staples that add a touch of vintage glamour.
Thigh-Highs: Thigh-high stockings can be paired with a garter belt or worn on their own for a sultry look.
Alternatives: Just go bare legged - less is often more.
5. Personal Touches
Jewelry: Simple, elegant jewelry can enhance your look. Consider pearl necklaces, delicate chains, or statement earrings.
Props: Personal items like a favorite shirt, a cheeky hat, a meaningful piece of jewelry, or a book can add a personal touch to your photos.
Alternatives: A long pearl necklace, satin gloves, a boa, fabric, silk flowers all from my selection.
6. Casual Pieces
Oversized Sweaters: An oversized sweater can create a cozy, intimate vibe.
Button-Down Shirts: A men’s button-down shirt or a casual tee can look effortlessly sexy and comfortable.
Alternatives: A cosy cardi, a sheer skirt, a piece of fabric from my selection.
7. Heels and Shoes
High Heels: Classic high heels can elongate your legs and add a touch of sophistication.
Barefoot: Sometimes, the most natural look is barefoot, adding an intimate, relaxed feel to your photos.
Alternatives: If you don’t have sexy shoes, then I do - and mostly unworn. Just let me know beforehand so I can bring along a selection (there’s just not room for all of them in the studio) Ok, I admit it I have a fetish for shoes.
